Kontorovich and Bell (“ Almost Nothing You’ve Heard About Evictions in Jerusalem Is True ”, Wall Street Journal, May 14, 2021) make a very clear argument that rebuts the media narrative regarding the Sheik Jarrah / Shimon HaTzadik neighborhood: this is simply a property dispute. If it were Arab landowners being sued by Arabs, or even Arab landowners being sued by Jews, nobody would have noticed. The whole dispute and the way it is being reported by the press and NGOs like Human Rights Watch and B’tselem is plainly and simply anti Semitic.
Unfortunately even the WSJ reporter from Tel Aviv on a Q&A video on the WSJ website gets this wrong and gives credibility to the wrong argument made by media and NGOs that Jews can get land back from pre-1948 days but Arab Palestinians cannot.
