Call Your Members of Congress Today

Members of Congress are currently receiving many calls and emails urging them to abandon Israel in the wake of the devastating Oct. 7 attack.

WE NEED TO PUSH BACK – Call Senators Heinrich and Lujan, and House members (District 1 [ABQ] – Melanie Stansbury; District 2 [southern NM] – Gabe Vasquez; District 3 [northern NM] – Teresa Leger-Fernandez) and urge them to do three things:

  1. Continue to stand with our ally Israel as it defends its citizens and works to defeat Hamas
    • America’s leaders must provide Israel the time and diplomatic support needed to protect its families and drive Hamas out of Gaza. America’s support for Israel must be consistent, loud and unequivocal.
  2. Support the emergency security assistance package to Israel
    • AIPAC strongly supports the president’s funding request, and we urge Congress to approve it expeditiously to ensure Israel remains strong and can win this war.
  3. Oppose calls for a “ceasefire” with Hamas
    • As State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Monday, “Any ceasefire would give Hamas the ability to rest, to refit, and to get ready to continue launching terrorist attacks against Israel. You can understand perfectly clearly why that’s an intolerable situation for Israel.”

Please take a moment right now to call your Senators and House members. We need to make sure members of Congress hear from pro-Israel Americans, not only the extreme anti-Israel activists currently contacting them.

You can find contact information here, or paste (https://www.sfmew.org/elected-officials-contact/).

For other members of Congress (who you may know from where you’ve lived before, or are friends with) whose number you do not have, please call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to be automatically connected.

Background
  • More than 1,400 Israeli men, women and children were systematically slaughtered in ISIS-style raids across Israeli communities. More than 5,000 were injured, and more than 200 civilians and soldiers were taken hostage into Gaza.
  • By population comparison, this was the equivalent of more than 50,000 Americans being slaughtered in the streets and their homes.
  • At least 32 Americans were killed, and an unknown number are being held hostage in Gaza.
  • Israel is responding to rocket fire from Gaza and Lebanon, and is expected to conduct a sustained and large-scale ground operation to destroy Hamas.
  • Hamas’ dream and Iran’s dream is that the narrative flips as soon as Israel takes action. Calls for a ceasefire plays into the narrative that Hamas is no longer the aggressor and is now the victim.
